Tribe
An ultra-low budget short made with a skeleton crew, 'Tribe' is the story of a family at the edge of a crumbling civilization. Shot over 3 1/2 days in upstate New York with the wind at our backs and snowmobiles in our microphones, the film was an attempt to craft a believable world for next to no money.
Most of our budget went to food and transport, with gear rental in tight second, and we cut every corner we could. The only artificial light used was the screen of an iPhone, maximizing the natural light available to us through a tightly plotted schedule. Cranberry Lake was so cold all of our gear except the camera broke down (read: froze) by the end of the shoot, but through improvisation and the often overlooked power of sleep deprivation we crossed the finish line, exhausted, but with a true sense of accomplishment. Thanks to all the Kickstarter backers, the crew, and everyone else who helped make this project a reality!
Shot on the Sony F-3.
